I haven't been feeling the best lately. Just kinda hurty all over. It's mostly work stress. I never knew that a person could get so stressed out that they feel like they've been hit by a bus. Ugh. Now I know!
Off-ice warm upz - I ran my two laps and walked a cool down lap. Running today didn't feel awesome and I needed to use my inhaler once I was done. I'm really hoping this gets easier the more frequently I do it. I also had to start my 30 day squat challenge over because I missed a bunch of squats a few days ago when I really wasn't feeling well. It's fine. I started over on May 1st and I'm already on day 3 (60 squats). I did some light stretching and then went downstairs to put skates on.
Lapz & Edgez - I spent the first 10 minutes doing various flavors of warm up laps and then did my edges on a line. Circle 8 was next and I did two rounds of that. My push off on each circle is much better now. There's a part of me that really wants to start working on the backward Circle 8. I mean, it took me a year and a half to get the forward Circle 8 to the point where it is consistent and passable so I know it's going to take quite a while to get the backward version of this to place where it looks decent.
Jumpz - I feel like my jumps have improved slightly since attending that clinic a couple of weeks ago. Nothing major but I would say they are better by 5%. I don't even think people would notice but I can feel the difference. They just feel a bit more secure. I'm still struggling with getting my salchow to slow down and be less like a tornado. I feel like I'm holding that LBI for a long time but then when I rewatch the video, it still looks rushed. Flips were sparkle trash today but my loops felt good so everything balances out, right? Toe loops were nice.
Spinz - I did the exercise on the blue line and I had maybe one that was good. The others barely made it back to the blue line before they started to rotate, therefore they traveled. I worked on some camels too but I only had one good one where I somehow hit the sweet spot and got 3 revolutions. It was a fluke for sure but I was happy for it. I feel like this will be a fun spin for me once I get the hang of it.
Footworkz - I worked on the new footwork that Christopher gave me and it's coming along. I have a lesson tomorrow morning and I'll talk to him about the placement of it and see what he says. I really like it as a lead in for the loop jump so I hope he's on board with that.
So, no real breakthroughs today, just maintenance on a bunch of things to keep them up to speed. I felt a bit lost today and I'm not sure if it was because I feel so icky or if it's because I really haven't had any lessons these past couple of months (I think I've had two?). But, now that the ice show is done and Christopher doesn't have to be at competitions for other students, we should have more time for lessons. They are desperately needed. I'm a mess.
