Tiny Courage

I had the ice all to myself this morning (yay Wednesdays!). I got a lot done because of that.

Dances - After my warmups, I started with dances. I was able to Bluetooth into the speakers (yay) but the sound quality wasn't the best (boo). At least it was something and I didn't have to skate with my phone in my pocket! My Swing dance felt really good, my Cha Cha felt alright, and my Fiesta was still pretty meh. I still have a couple of weeks to spice them up so I have hope that I'll come through with a pass. Maybe.

Spins - I worked a lot on camels, change foot spins, and camel-sit spins. The most frustrating thing is that I can do a camel and I can do a sit but when I transition from camel to sit, I get on my heel and can't get my sit to go lower or go beyond 2 revs. I gathered some tiny courage and attempted a Camel-sit-backspin. It was gross but I tried it. I did a couple of mediocre laybacks as well.

Jumps - I worked a bit on the Lutz and Flip to get the left leg up sooner after I pick in. I don't know if I made any progress but I did the thing. I didn't spend too much time on jumps because I wanted to make sure I had time to run my program.

Program - This is the first time I have run my program since last week's competition. It was okay. I struggled with the Lutz-Toe combo (as I do) but I got it done and I ended on time with the music.

Moves - I worked on Forward Double 3 Turns which are coming along. I'm able to do the full pattern even though my lobes are small and misshapen. I've got two years to improve them so I'm happy with what I have for now. I also worked a bit on backward outside edges on a line in preparation for the Backward Circle 8. Finally, the remainder of my time was spent on Brackets. FI brackets are still maintaining and the RFO is still happening even though it's hella scratchy. I gathered some tiny courage once again to work on the LFO bracket away from the wall for the first time. I promised myself I wasn't leaving the ice until I try one without chickening out. I tried TWO! They were gross but the turn happened! I ended up getting up on my toepick right after the turn so there wasn't a glide out but I did a brave thing and I'm proud of myself.
